Biography Of Mario J. Saldana, M.D.

Mario J. Saldana M.D. was born in the Northern Peruvian city of Piura.  He was the son of a prominent lawyer and judge.  Dr. Saldana attended college and medical school at the University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru.  San Marcos is the oldest university in the Americas founded in 1551 and one of the oldest universities in the world.  Dr. Saldana was a post-doctoral fellow at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Saldana was also a teaching fellow at
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and at Harvard University Medical School.  Dr.  Saldana was licensed to practice medicine in
Pennsylvania and Florida.

Dr. Saldana was a prominent medical school professor including University of Pennsylvania Medical School (recipient of 1974 Teaching Award),
Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, Hahnemann University Hospital, Rutgers University Medical School, and the
University of Miami Medical School.

Dr. Saldana was a prolific author whose works included a leading study of high altitude pulmonary pathology conducted in the Andes Mountain Range. 
Dr. Saldana was also a prolific lecturer throughout the Americas, Europe, and Japan. 

Dr. Saldana retired from the practice of medicine in 2006 as one of the renowned pulmonary pathologists in the world.  For more information on
