By popular demand, the Calder Library will host a second special seminar on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) on Thursday, March 20th, 2014, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. The class will be held in our third floor electronic classroom. Guest Lecturer will be Dr. Ira Sheskin, Professor and Chair, Department of Geography and Regional Studies, University of Miami, Coral Gables Campus. Space is limited to 20 participants, so please register early!
The IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), v.22, is a package of statistical tools for Windows. The major thrust of this course is to teach participants how to use SPSS. The class will familiarize participants with the program and what it is capable of doing. Participants will be able to:
- Review the SPSS Windows (Data, Syntax, Output, and Help)
- Enter data into the program
- Navigate and edit a spreadsheet
- Explore the Menu Structure
- Run statistical programs
- Create graphs... and more!
Hands-on exercises will familiarize participants with the program. The University of Miami has a site license for the program and it is available for download by authorized users.
