69. This is St. Francis St which claims to have the oldest house in the city. It has been remodeled, but the original
house was built by the French Huguenots in 1562 and occupied by monks of St. Francis from 1565 to 1580. In 1590 it became the property of a deputy of the Spanish government, remaining in the same family until purchased
by Dr. Carver in 1882. The house sold in 1896 for $15,000 |
