It soon became one of the most successful, sophisticated hotels on the beach. The Shorecrest served as military barracks for soldiers who trained here during World War II. In October 1945, the hotel reopened. Later, the restored Royal Palm Hotel and the Shorecrest Hotel, both dating to the 1930s, were integrated into a single beachfront property, the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort. Inscription on verso.
