El Charro de JaliscoLocation: Jalisco Description: La China Poblana and El Charro de Jalisco are dancing partners. These two costumes are costumes in the most literal sense of the word. These two perform to this day at festivals and during theatrical productions of folk dance and song. El Charro de Jalisco wears the traditional dress of the Mexican cowboy, also known as a Mariachi or vaquero. The cut of the garment is uniform; we can see his short jacket and high-waisted trousers, both richly detailed. The occasion of wearing will often dictate the embroidery and intricacy of the Charro's costume. His sombrero is a typical head-dressing of the Mexican cowboy, taken to the costume extreme; it is oversized and overly embellished. El Charro de Jalisco and La China Poblana are folk heroes of Mexico. This folio portrays and preserves them beautifully in their most theatrical and bombastic dress.
